It is almost time

Anya's Ghost comes out tomorrow! Holy crap! Maybe I am writing this blog prematurely but who cares. I am pretty excited. I started working on it in the evenings back in 2007 while I was on Coraline and kept working on it through a good chunk of my time on Paranorman. Then I waited a year for the publishing machine to do its thing. And after tomorrow it's going to be out there for people to read in probably about 30 minutes. I hope they're an enjoyable 30 minutes, if you decide to pick it up (and I hope you do!). I tried to make the best story I could with the resources I had available.

Thing coming up: I am going to be at Floating World Comics this Wednesday evening to sign copies of the book and hang out and feed you my home-made caramels. If you're local to Portland please stop by, it'll be great to see you!

June 8th 6-9pm

Other things: I am working on a behind-the-scenes blog post about my weird comic-making process! I am going to have a new website soon! I am going to be at San Diego Comic-Con! I'm going to eat lunch! Oh boy.

TCAF!

TCAF is this weekend! I am trembly with anticipation. It is pretty much the best show and I'm sharing a table with the best ladies. Jen, Emily and I are conveniently located right in front of the main entrance next to the Welcome Table, so hopefully there will be no problems finding us. We'll have stuff! And nervous smiles. Come say hi.

toil & trouble

Another actual painting on actual paper! What's going on around here. I did this one of Thessaly (from Sandman and her own series) for Neil Gaiman. He's a nice man.

I always liked Thessaly, she had her shit together.

ass-kicking at TCAF

Like many rad artists before me, I drew Annie Koyama's Kickass Annie character! Annie runs a small-press publishing company that puts out some great books. Like the new Cat Rackham book! Good stuff.

OTHER NEWS: I am going to be at TCAF next weekend in Toronto! I will be tabling with Jen and Emily at a table that I am unofficially calling Girl Party. It's gonna be the best. I'll have the same stuff I had at Stumptown, but with even more books to give away! I'll update with my table number when I know it.

Stumptoooown!

Hey! The Stumptown Comics Festival is next weekend and I will be THERE. Specifically at table D-12, with my good buddy Jen Wang. I am going to have my brand-new 34-page minicomic "What Were You Raised By Wolves", Draw This Dress postcard sets, some tshirts, art prints, and some copies of Anya's Ghost to raffle off! Since I'm can't sell them yet I'm GIVIN' 'EM AWAY. How about that. I'm really stoked, this is my first convention in years and I'm really looking forward to meeting folks. So come say hi!

previews!

Diamond Previews is a catalog that comic book stores get from which to order their books. And in the latest issue you can see Anya's Ghost, along with comic bros Dave Roman, Gene Yang and Thien Pham! If you like to buy your comics from comic book stores you should make sure and ask them to order Anya's Ghost for you, because there's no guarantee they'll get it on their own. The more people that ask for it the better! Ask for those other books too. Ask for a whole giant pile of comics. Because comics rule.

Also Anya's Ghost got a starred review in the 3/15 issue of Booklist, which is awesome.

And perhaps now is a good time to mention that I will have a table at Stumptown April 16th and 17th! I'm sharing with my excellent buddy Jen Wang, and will have some things for you to buy. If all goes well, there will be a postcard set from Draw this Dress, some prints, leftover knitting tshirts, copies of Anya's Ghost (to look at, not buy. Sorry!) and hopefully a brand new minicomic! I'll try and bake some cookies too. I am stoked. I haven't had a table at a convention in years.

yuki party

I drew a drawing for Kevin Dart's already-awesome upcoming book, Looks That Kill. It's of Yuki and her Gadget Girl bros. (girl bros?) Every girl needs a pink sniper rifle.

It has been quiet here but I am having a very un-quiet February! Lots of things getting worked on. I drew a few more dresses over here if you need some drawings to see. They are tagged with my name.
